Indiana Man Gets 37 Years For Police Office Shootings

INDIANAPOLIS — The Associated Press reports a man convicted of firing dozens of bullets at two Indianapolis police district offices has been sentenced to 37 years in prison. According to AP a Marion County judge sentenced 22-year-old Damoine A. Wilcoxson on Friday after he was convicted at the beginning of the month of two counts of attempted murder and criminal recklessness. AP reports prosecutors say Wilcoxson fired more than 30 rounds into the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s Northwest District office on Oct. 4, 2016, before he then fired 16 shots into the North District office nine days later.
A bullet missed one officer by only inches.
AP reports via IndyStar Wilcoxson is also accused of murder in the slaying 82-year-old John Clements in nearby Boone County, and is scheduled to be tried there in May.
