2017 saw almost 9 million passengers using Indy's airport, about three percent more than 2016.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Indianapolis International Airport broke a record in 2017, having served more passengers than any prior year. The airport's Twitter account broke the news Wednesday.

A total of 8.77 million passengers flew through the airport in 2017, which is a three percent increase over 2016.

"This new passenger record exceeds the previous record set in 2005, and represents a 3 percent increase over 2016 passenger activity. The airport broke records in January, May, June, October and November for passenger traffic – and set a new record in June 2017 with nearly 434,000 passengers flying out of Indy," the airport's website says.
