Marion Co. Coroner Identifies Dead Body Found In Rental Truck

Police officials say the body of an adult was found in a rental truck outside an Indianapolis business. Originally they said it was a child.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — An adult body found in a rental truck at a south side U-Haul location Wednesday afternoon has been identified by the Marion County Coroners Office as 26-year-old Alyssa Sanderfer, WISH-TV reports. Officials originally said a baby's body was found in a rental truck at a south side U-Haul location Wednesday afternoon, but are now reporting that it was an adult's body, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports. IMPD officials says the body was found around 1:30 p.m. inside a plastic tote by crews cleaning the van at U-Haul Moving & Storage of Southern Plaza, 4011 S. East St.

An email to Patch from James Gillespie of Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department public affairs said, "Upon closer examination of the deceased, it is believed that it is an adult, not an infant/child as stated earlier."

WISH-TV says investigators were working to track down the last person who used the van and are reviewing rental logs and records as a cause of death has not been determined.
