Dead Baby Found In Suitcase On PATH Track In Jersey City: Reports

BREAKING: The suitcase was found early Wednesday afternoon.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office homicide unite is currently investigating a dead baby found near the PATH tracks, they said on Twitter. The body was found early afternoon just off the train tracks underneath The Tonnelle Avenue Bridge in Jersey City, the prosecutor's office said.

Multiple media outlets are reporting the body was found inside a suitcase. It was not immediately clear how old the baby was, but the prosecutor's office describe it as an "infant."

Spokespeople for Jersey City and for the Port Authority referred all questions to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. The prosecutor's office has not yet returned Patch's request for comment.

News4 New York said the baby appeared to be under a year old but not a newborn.

Investigators gathered on the tracks underneath the Tonnelle Avenue overpass, near Newark Avenue, to tend to the scene. They appeared to be focused on a flipped-open suitcase on the side of the tracks, according to the report.

This comes nearly the same time law enforcement officials in Indiana said the body of a dead baby was found in the back of a rental truck Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis.
