Kayaker Finds Body In White River, Police Investigating
IFD says a kayaker reported a body in White River near Michigan Road bridge.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Indianapolis Fire Department officials say authorities are investigating after a body was found in the White River Wednesday on the city's north side. IFD says a kayaker called 911 reporting a body in the water at Haughey Avenue and North Michigan Road near West 42nd St. just before 4:40 p.m. IFD says it was first reported to crews that the body might be a lost IFD training mannequin wearing an orange life vest, but crews confirmed it was a person.
IFD says one of their boats and Pike Township Dive Team crews were called to the scene.
The body was found 200 yards upstream from the Michigan Road bridge just before 5:40 p.m., IFD says.

IMPD Homicide and Marion County Coroner officials were called to help with the investigation, as the victim was out of the water at 6:45 p.m.
Officials say the body is with the Marion County Coroner's Officer and there is no other information on the victim or incident is available at this time.
