Labor Day 2017: What's Closed, Open And What To Do

DETAILS: Labor Day closings, warnings and things to do throughout Carmel, Fishers and Indianapolis

Labor Day symbolizes the end of a relaxing and fun summer, even though the season doesn't conclude until the end of September. For many families, it's goodbye to a long-awaited summer routine, and hello to a new school year. This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 4. Since Labor Day is a federal holiday, many will enjoy a day off of work, school, and many offices and municipal services will be closed.

Here's what will be closed in Carmel, Fishers and Indianapolis:

  • City offices closed Monday.
  • IPS, Carmel Clay, Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern Schools
  • Libraries
  • Costco

However, several major retailers and restaurant chains will be open — and many are offering Labor Day deals — but smaller businesses and locally-owned shops may be closed, so it's a good idea to call ahead.
