The New Snortable Stimulant: Coco Loco

Details of a trending snortable powder people are using for energy, focus and less stress.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Just when you think you've seen (or smelled) it all, a company called Local Lean is taking cocoa consumption to another level with Coco Loco. The snortable chocolate powder, or "Infused Raw Cacao Snuff," is the latest craze consumers are indeed snorting to feel energized, stress-free and focused.

The Orlando-based company is marketing Coco Loco as a dietary supplement for adults 18 and over. The product is sold as a 1.25 oz amount aimed at an audience who frequents social events, athletes and for those looking to tackle their to-do lists.

Because it's being marketed as a dietary supplement and not a drug, the FDA cannot regulate the product. If the FDA can't regulate it, you might not know how much is too much too soon, especially when it comes to stimulants and their impact on the heart.

Chocolate lovers, including younger consumers may think, "It's chocolate!" or "How bad can it be?" Chocolate is eaten, not usually snorted. (For more local news and events, subscribe to free email news alerts and a daily newsletter for Indianapolis Patch).

Since the powder has gone viral, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer has urged the FDA to investigate the product. Until any changes are made, Coco Loco is up for grabs at locallean.com. It's typically priced at $24.99 per 1.25 oz, but is currently on sale for $19.99.
