• Indianapolis residents voice opposition to proposed data center at heated meeting (wishtv.com) — Martindale-Brightwood neighbors in Indianapolis packed a meeting to push back against a proposed Metrobloks data center at 25th and Sherman, arguing it lacks community support and clear plans. Despite promised jobs and $22.5 million in community commitments, residents have already filed a lawsuit, and the city's Metropolitan Development Commission will weigh tax breaks for the project on Oct. 21.
   

• U.S. Marshals Capture Mississippi Murder Suspect Izeekia Sanders in Indianapolis (tippahnews.com) — A 20-year-old Mississippi murder suspect was arrested by U.S. Marshals on October 7 near 30th Street in Indianapolis and is now held in Marion County Jail awaiting extradition. The man is accused in a deadly September shooting in Mound Bayou, Mississippi, and investigators say the case remains open as they continue gathering information.
   

• Indiana Estimates 58,000 HIP Members Are Not Yet Meeting Medicaid Work Rules That Take Effect January 1 (medicaldaily.com) — Indianapolis residents on the Healthy Indiana Plan face new work or earnings rules starting January 1, 2027, and many may not yet be properly documented as compliant or exempt. The state urges HIP members to confirm their hours or exemptions this fall, keep proof of work, school, or volunteering, and contact FSSA or local partners now to avoid losing coverage and prescription access.
