Richmond Hill Explosion Convict Mark Leonard Found Dead In Prison

The Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) says the man behind the deadly 2012 Richmond Hill explosion, Mark Leonard, died Tuesday morning at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility. An IDOC spokesman says 48-year-old Leonard was found dead in the southwestern Indiana facility. The cause of death hasn't been determined, but Patch will continue to update this piece as information comes in.

Leonard received 50 years in Feb. for trying to have a witness in the case killed, in addition to the life without parole and 75 years he already had for murder, arson and conspiracy to commit insurance fraud in the 2012 explosion that also destroyed his girlfriend's home.

That explosion damaged or destroyed more than 80 homes on Indianapolis’ south side.
