Seasoned Law Enforcement Professional Is New IUPUI Police Chief
Doug Johnson gets promoted to chief of IUPUI's Indiana University Police Department division starting on this date: Report

Indiana University and Inside Indiana Business report there's a new chief in town at IUPUI. According to IIBl, Doug Johnson has been promoted to chief of the Indiana University Police Department division at IUPUI, where he will lead more than 50 full-time and part-time uniformed officers and detectives beginning Jan. 1. Johnson began his IUPD career with the IUPUI division in 2012, and was assigned to Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus for two years before becoming deputy chief at IUPD Bloomington division, IIB reports.
IUPD at IUPUI is one division of the IU Police Department, which IIB reports is part of the Office of Public Safety and Institutional Assurance. Chief Johnson will join Superintendent Hunter's leadership team, made up of seven chiefs throughout the system, IIB reports.

Johnson retired from IMPD in 2011 after 20 years of service and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. The seasoned professional is also a colonel and division chief of staff in the U.S. Army Reserve, IIB reports.
