Train, Railcars Collide Causing Spills And Closures
Indianapolis Fire Department reports liquid leaking from railcars, and CSX officials are investigating the incident.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — A Friday morning collision between a train and railcars that resulted in two of the cars to leak is being investigated by CSX Transportation officials, Indianapolis Fire Department reports. Indianapolis Fire Department Battalion Chief Rita Reith said several crews including teams from IMPD, IFD, Hazmat and the Marion County Health Department responded to the accident at South Harding and West Henry Streets around 10 a.m. One railcar was leaking grain and the other was leaking a non-flammable liquid, Reith said.
There were no injuries, and the scene was secured and turned over to Marion County Health officials and CSX around 10:30 a.m., IFD reports.
