Rector takes command of Indiana State Police Lafayette post (jconline.com) — Leadership of the Indiana State Police Lafayette District is changing, with longtime local officer Ben Rector promoted to lieutenant and district commander. He'll now oversee patrols, investigations, and administration across the eight-county Lafayette District, drawing on years of experience as a detective, K-9 handler, and investigative squad leader serving communities in and around Lafayette.

Exploration Acres opens 23-acre corn maze celebrating America's 250th anniversary (wishtv.com) — Families in and around Lafayette can explore a massive 23-acre corn maze and 11-acre u-pick pumpkin patch at Exploration Acres, just 20 minutes from Purdue. Open through Nov. 1, the farm offers wagon rides, fire pits, kids' activities, and a country store with Indiana-made treats, making it an easy fall outing for local residents and students.
   

4. Trial of Lafayette judge's accused shooter moved to January 2027 (jconline.com) — A high‑profile case involving the shooting of Lafayette Judge Steve Meyer and his wife has been pushed back, with the accused triggerman now set for trial from Jan. 19 to Feb. 5, 2027. Multiple co‑defendants still face their own trials on attempted murder and conspiracy charges, as the special judge weighs requests for a special prosecutor, venue change, and jail phone access.
