• Harrison volleyball seeking to break out of the 'shadows' this postseason (jconline.com) — Harrison High School's volleyball team in West Lafayette has ripped off 12 straight wins and climbed to No. 8 in Class 4A as it tries to step out of the shadow of bigger programs like McCutcheon. Around the Lafayette area, several Class 1A powers, including Covington, South Newton, Rossville, Central Catholic and West Central, are shaping up for an especially competitive postseason. 
• ISP Sergeant Ben Rector promoted to lieutenant (wbiw.com) — Indiana State Police have promoted longtime trooper Ben Rector to lieutenant and commander of the Lafayette District, which oversees patrols and investigations in eight surrounding counties. Rector, a Purdue graduate who has spent his entire career in the Lafayette District, now leads local operations, supervision and criminal investigations that affect safety in and around Lafayette.
