K-105 Count the Pumpkins Official Rules (wkoa.com) — Lafayette-area listeners can join K-105's "Count the Pumpkins" contest now through October 18 for a chance to win family passes to Exploration Acres on Newcastle Road. Each week features a new pumpkin photo to count online, with one winner drawn for a $62 family pass, limited to eligible Lafayette residents 18 and older within 75 miles.
   

2. Former Purdue student, city councilman admits COVID-19 fraud scheme (jconline.com) — A former West Lafayette city councilman and Purdue graduate has admitted in federal court to a COVID-19 relief fraud scheme totaling more than $326,000, money prosecutors say he spent on personal expenses like gambling and cryptocurrency. His case, tied closely to Purdue campus politics and West Lafayette public life, now heads toward a November sentencing that could bring a lengthy federal prison term and substantial restitution.
   

3. Central Catholic German teacher awarded for going above and beyond (wlfi.com) — Students at Lafayette Central Catholic are celebrating German teacher Kristen Weintraut, who just won Custom Ink's "Unsung Heroes" award for her dedication in and out of the classroom. She spends weekends fundraising so every interested student can afford travel abroad, and plans to use the $5,000 prize to further support school activities like prom or trips.
   

4. Twin Lakes' win over Central Catholic gives Kevin O'Shea a reflective night (jconline.com) — Lafayette Central Catholic's football team fell 38-14 to Twin Lakes in Monticello, but the matchup gave former Knights coach Kevin O'Shea a chance to reflect on coaching his now-grown former players. The game highlighted Twin Lakes' resurgence and Central Catholic's strategy of facing tougher regional opponents, including Lafayette-area programs, to prepare for a deep Class 1A postseason run.
