• Community Foundation's grant cycle open through Aug. 4 (madisoncourier.com) — Nonprofits serving Madison and the rest of Jefferson County can now apply online for the Community Foundation’s 2026 competitive grants, with about $400,000 available through August 4. Local 501(c)3 groups are urged to discuss project ideas with staff beforehand and carefully follow tips on timelines, budgets, and board giving to strengthen their chances.
   

• Jeffrey Hill, 73 (oakpark.com) — Longtime Madison native Jeffrey Allen Hill, 73, is being remembered for his big-hearted personality, love of music, and annual gatherings at his Brooksburg farm after passing away during a fishing trip in Mexico. Raised in Madison and proud of his small-town roots, he built deep friendships, shared fishing and music with his son Jacob, and leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends.
