• Comcast Volunteers Support Northwest Indiana Storm Recovery Efforts in Partnership with The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana (greatnews.life) — Merrillville's Food Bank of Northwest Indiana is at the center of storm recovery, recently teaming with Comcast volunteers to pack groceries for more than 300 households hit by August's severe weather. From its Merrillville base, the food bank now distributes millions of meals each year through Mobile Market and other programs, supporting over 60,000 people monthly across Lake and Porter counties.

• Portage asks IURC to investigate NIPSCO staffing levels (chicagotribune.com) — Merrillville residents are part of a NIPSCO service area whose sharply reduced lineman staffing is now under scrutiny after August's devastating derecho left many customers without power for weeks. Portage's City Council has asked state regulators to investigate whether staffing levels worsened outages, while also honoring local workers and volunteers who helped restore service and clear storm damage.
