• Thousands in Northwest Indiana Still Without Power as Storm Recovery Stretches Into a Second Week – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — Merrillville residents are entering a second week of storm-related power outages, turning to the Dean and Barbara White Community Center for meals, water, and support. Local officials say some homes still lack electricity after last week's derecho, as neighbors from Merrillville and nearby towns share generators, supplies, and rides while crews slowly restore service.
   

• Standing With Our Neighbors: Legacy Foundation Mobilizes Major Relief Fund After Severe Storms (lakeshorepublicmedia.org) — Merrillville residents affected by this summer's severe storms are getting a major boost, with $395,000 already awarded through the Merrillville Tornado Relief Fund. Building on that effort, Legacy Foundation has launched a broader Lake County Disaster Relief Fund, seeded by a $100,000 gift, to support ongoing cleanup and recovery. Locals, businesses, and organizations can donate online to help neighbors rebuild.
   

• Two months after tornado, Niner Nation returns home (chicagotribune.com) — A Merrillville junior and her classmates are back inside Andrean High School just two months after a tornado badly damaged the building, with classes now underway as repairs continue. Families from across Northwest Indiana, including storm-battered Merrillville, are still coping with recent power outages while celebrating the school's surprisingly quick comeback.
