• Indiana AG sues tree companies for scamming residents while owner calls it a 'witch hunt' (chicagotribune.com) — Munster residents are at the center of a new Indiana attorney general lawsuit accusing several out-of-state tree companies of overcharging and working without required town licenses after the August 11 derecho. One Munster homeowner allegedly paid tens of thousands for tree removal, prompting calls for restitution, penalties, and stricter licensing, plus tips on how locals can avoid similar scams. 
• PNW preventive screening mammography program (nwitimes.com) — Munster-area Purdue Northwest employees and spouses can schedule free preventive mammogram screenings this fall, including appointments at Franciscan Health Cancer Center on Superior Drive in Munster. Eligible participants get up to 90 minutes of paid time off for travel and screening, but must book by Friday, September 11 for dates running October 5–16 at several Northwest Indiana locations.
• Seasons Change and Great News remains the same (greatnews.life) — Munster students and families are part of a growing regional "Great News" effort that highlights positive stories and school events across five Northern Indiana counties. The program invites one student from Munster High and other schools to share uplifting campus moments, while media crews continue covering local fall sports so parents and grandparents can revisit games and celebrations online.
