• West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes detected in Floyd County (wave3.com) — Health officials in New Albany have confirmed another batch of West Nile virus-positive mosquitoes in Floyd County, the ninth such finding this year. Residents are urged to use DEET-based repellents, wear long sleeves and pants at dawn and dusk, and remove standing water around homes; you can also request mosquito surveillance traps through the Floyd County Health Department.
   

• Olympians rout New Albany (therepublic.com) — New Albany High School’s Bulldogs fell 54–14 to Columbus East in a Hoosier Hills Conference football game that included a 90-minute lightning delay. Despite big plays from the Bulldog offense in the first half, East’s passing attack and defense controlled the night, leaving New Albany 1–4 overall and 0–2 in conference heading into the rest of the season.
