RCS teachers union: No confidence in leaders (westernwaynenews.com) — Richmond Community Schools teachers have delivered an overwhelming no-confidence vote in the district’s central office leadership, citing concerns about communication, finances, and direction. At the same meeting, the school board chose not to automatically extend Superintendent Curtis Wright’s contract in 2026, saying they want administrative cuts considered first amid broader staffing concerns.

2. Purdue Polytechnic Richmond pauses new enrollment (westernwaynenews.com) — Purdue Polytechnic’s Richmond campus has paused taking new student applications while it reevaluates and revamps its programs, even as other satellite locations continue normal operations. Local economic leaders stress the campus’s importance in supplying engineering talent to Wayne County manufacturers, highlighting recent student achievements and the high share of first-generation graduates in Richmond’s Class of 2025.

3. Color as Experience exhibit at Reid (dailyadvocate.com) — Richmond residents can explore a new abstract art exhibit, “Color as Experience,” now on display at Reid Health’s MacDowell Gallery through July. Artist GK Rowe uses layered color and light to encourage calm reflection, especially suited to a healing environment. The gallery, on Reid Parkway’s second floor, is easily accessible via the Grand Staircase or elevators.

4. Richmond slips past Northeastern 10-8 (westernwaynenews.com) — Richmond’s baseball team edged Northeastern 10-8 in a high-scoring nonconference matchup on Thursday, May 21, using seven pitchers to tune up for the postseason. The Red Devils rallied with three runs in the sixth, while several Richmond hitters, including Logan Belanga, Zander Juday and Malachi Moore, delivered multi-hit performances.
