• 2026-27 school year start dates in Indianapolis area (wishtv.com) — Families in the School Town of Speedway should mark Monday, Aug. 3, as the first day of classes for the 2026–27 school year. A new roundup of Indianapolis-area districts shows many neighboring schools starting between July 29 and mid-August, so Speedway parents can plan transportation, childcare, and back-to-school shopping around that date. Check the list if you have students in nearby townships too. 
• 4 people arrested after gun pointed at child at Speedway grocery store (wthr.com) — A chaotic fight inside the Kroger on Crawfordsville Road in Speedway ended with three women and a juvenile arrested after a gun was pointed at a 12-year-old girl, police say. Speedway officers, who already staff the store off-duty due to frequent calls, report 91 service runs there this year. Prosecutors will now decide on formal charges stemming from the incident.
• Years Later, Samantha Busch Still Can't Shake This Painful Indy Memory (fadeawayworld.net) — Samantha Busch returned to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway for the first time since her husband, NASCAR star Kyle Busch, died in May, stirring painful memories of where they first met. She shared how the Brickyard 400 now feels without him, even as their son Brexton carries on his racing legacy with a recent win. The story highlights Speedway’s emotional place in NASCAR history and in the Busch family’s life.
