Terre Haute Humane Society temporarily closes after parvo cases reported (mywabashvalley.com) — The Terre Haute Humane Society has temporarily closed after several dogs died from parvovirus, prompting staff to isolate suspected cases and deep-clean the facility. Leaders say the shutdown is out of caution as they work to protect other animals and prevent further spread of the highly contagious disease affecting dogs. 
2. 60 Over 60 award winners honored Wednesday (mywabashvalley.com) — Community members over 60 from around Terre Haute were celebrated Wednesday at a special “6 Over 60” awards luncheon at the Red Barn, recognizing their decades of service to the Wabash Valley. Camp Navigate organized the event, giving local middle schoolers a chance to meet honorees and hear how true success comes from giving back rather than titles or wealth.
3. Two Wabash Valley hospitals recognized by the American Heart Association (mywabashvalley.com) — Union Hospital in Terre Haute has been honored by the American Heart Association for following evidence-based guidelines that improve care for heart disease and stroke patients. Alongside Good Samaritan in Vincennes, the hospital’s participation in the Get With The Guidelines program is linked to better outcomes, fewer readmissions, and reduced disparities in cardiac and stroke care.
4. Richard Lee Brayfield – Casey, IL (formerly of Sesser, IL) (franklincounty-news.com) — Longtime tradesman and funeral director Richard Lee Brayfield, 92, passed away July 26 in Terre Haute after a life of service spanning the military, Illinois State Police, funeral care, and the Plumbers’ and Steamfitters’ Union Local 157 of Terre Haute. Remembered for his faith, community work, and devotion to family, he leaves a legacy cherished across Clark County and beyond.
5. Owensboro Bombers shutout Missouri 2-0 to kick off Great Lakes Region Tournament (owensborotimes.com) — A regional American Legion baseball tournament game later today will see the Owensboro Bombers face a team from Terre Haute after shutting out Missouri 2-0 behind strong pitching from Brodie Tucker and Myles Grant. Terre Haute fans can watch their local squad try to slow the Bombers’ momentum after Tucker’s clutch escapes from multiple jams and key RBI hits from Eli Hampton and Jagger Pate.
