New molecular diagnostics instruments provide improved accuracy (purdue.edu) — Purdue researchers in West Lafayette have built three new low-cost molecular diagnostic instruments aimed at bringing accurate, rapid testing to homes, farms, clinics, and food facilities. The ThermiQuant devices refine earlier paper-based biosensors, using imaging and software to read color changes more precisely and withstand tough field conditions, with an eye toward future handheld tools that could benefit communities worldwide.
   

4. Construction Manager Chosen for $4B AI Memory Plant in Indiana (enr.com) — A massive $4 billion SK hynix AI memory plant is under construction on 133 acres in West Lafayette, with Hanmi Global chosen to manage the complex build through 2028. The facility will anchor high‑bandwidth memory production in the U.S., tie into Purdue University research and talent pipelines, and benefit from substantial federal CHIPS Act support, positioning Greater Lafayette as a semiconductor hub.
   

5. Purdue and University of Illinois, two engineering powerhouses, team up to strengthen semiconductor workforce in U.S. (newswise.com) — Purdue's West Lafayette campus is teaming up with the University of Illinois to expand semiconductor workforce training just as AI drives huge demand for chip engineers. The partnership will align certificates, minors, and hands-on clean-room experiences, giving West Lafayette students more industry-guided pathways into fabrication, design, and advanced packaging jobs that are critical to U.S. competitiveness.
