Man Killed During Shootout With Police In Lawrence
Armed robbery and carjacking suspect dies in a shootout with police in suburban Indianapolis.

LAWRENCE, IN — Authorities say an armed robbery and carjacking suspect has died after exchanging gunshots with suburban Indianapolis police officers Tuesday, AP reports. According to AP, Lawrence Deputy Police Chief Gary Woodruff says no officers were injured in the Tuesday afternoon confrontation. Chief Woodruff also says Lawrence officers began chasing the man's car after the armed robbery of a small business, adding that the gunman crashed the car before carjacking another with two people inside of it, AP reports.
AP reports via Chief Woodruff that when the stolen vehicle crashed, the driver got out with a gun and shot at the officers, who shot him.
According to Chief Woodruff those inside the car weren't hit by gunfire, however the gunman died on scene.

AP reports at least five bullets went through the front window of a nearby restaurant, however none of the employees or customers were hurt.
