DEVELOPING: Pedestrian struck by train, seriously injured (iowastatedaily.com) β A person was seriously injured after being struck by a train early Wednesday at the Clark Avenue railroad crossing in Ames and was taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Ames police are still investigating the circumstances and have not released the victim's name, asking anyone with information to call their main line or anonymous tip line.

Iowa Baptist executive Tim Lubinus to transition to new role in Iowa (christianindex.org) β Longtime Baptist Convention of Iowa executive director Tim Lubinus will step down and, early next year, begin a new missions-focused ministry role at Cornerstone Church in Ames. Lubinus, whose calling began at Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Ames, will help guide the convention's leadership transition while preparing to concentrate more deeply on global missions work.

Western Illinois University (WIU) Museum Studies at Iowa Museum Association (IMA) 2026 Conference (rcreader.com) β Reiman Gardens in Ames will host the Iowa Museum Association's 2026 conference October 18β20, bringing museum professionals and graduate students from across the region into town. Western Illinois University's Museum Studies program will sponsor, send volunteers, and lead a session on how museums are adapting to financial pressures and planning for long-term growth.
