• Iowa State Police cite, arrest 33 people during '801 Day' festivities (who13.com) — Police reported 33 people arrested or cited during this year's 801 Day in Ames, with about half having no Iowa State affiliation and most offenses tied to underage possession and public intoxication. The report also notes that Ames City Council sharply increased nuisance party fines in Campustown, meaning first-time violations over this weekend now cost $650, with steeper penalties for repeat offenses.
   

• American Legion Legacy Run kicks off in Lincoln (wowt.com) — A national American Legion motorcycle fundraiser is riding toward Louisville and plans an overnight stop in Ames, bringing dozens of riders raising money for veterans and their families. The four-day, 1,000-mile Legacy Run features organized flights of bikes, support vehicles, and road guards, highlighting both safety and a shared sense of service among participants.
