• Supervisors approve land purchase (swiowanewssource.com) — Cass County supervisors have narrowly approved buying about an acre of land north of the current county maintenance shed in the Anita area for $20,000, despite two members objecting to the price. A smaller purchase near Griswold and the hiring of a secondary roads operator in Atlantic were also approved, decisions that could affect how road services are staffed and delivered around Anita. 
• Cougars Building Momentum with Drake Qualifiers, Home Meet Up Next (westerniowatoday.com) — From right here in Anita, the CAM girls track team is sending three entries to this week’s Drake Relays, highlighted by hurdler Ada Hansen and the 4×100 relay. Before Des Moines, the Cougars test themselves tonight at the CAM Co-Ed Classic in Atlantic, where several local athletes, including discus standout Courtney Follmann and versatile sprinter-hurdler Ruthie Rich, are ones to watch.
• Allen Paul Brownsberger Obituary (westerniowatoday.com) — Anita residents are invited to honor longtime community member Allen Paul “Paul” Brownsberger, born in Anita and an Anita High School graduate, at his funeral Mass this Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in town. Visitation is Thursday evening in Atlantic, with burial and a luncheon there following Friday’s services.
