Man Punches DJ Outside Lucky Bamboo in Ankeny
A Saylor Township man is facing several charges after allegedly punching a DJ in the face outside the Lucky Bamboo in Ankeny, according to police records.
Fawnie A. Avery, 25, was charged with assault, disorderly conduct and public intoxication after an altercation at about 12:33 a.m. on Feb. 18.

According to a report provided by the , police were called to 1555 S.E. Delaware Ave. When they arrived, they saw bouncers holding Avery on the ground outside the restaurant.
Avery was involved in a fight in the parking lot earlier, the report said, when another man attempted to break up the altercation. Avery then allegedly punched the man and tried to run.

Avery was stopped by staff outside the restaurant and held until police arrived. The victim suffered minor injuries, the police report said.

Thomas A. Willardson, 28, Ankeny, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (second offense) following a traffic stop near the intersection of Southwest Arlan Drive and White Birch Circle.
Feb. 18
Brandon M. Burma, 27, State Center, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated (third offense) and failure to maintain control following an incident near the 100 block of East First Street.
Stephen J. Hernandez, 20, Des Moines, was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop on Interstate 35 southbound near the Oralabor Road exit.
A 16-year-old juvenile was charged with conspiracy to deliver schedule II narcotics, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to affix drug tax stamp following a traffic stop in the 700 block of Northeast Fifth Street.

Semir Alicic, 26, Ankeny, was charged with possession of prescription drugs following an incident at 2002 N.W. Hickory Lane.
Dustin P. Hobby, 28, Des Moines, was charged with third-degree attempted burglary following an incident at 312 N.W. College Ave.
Sydney L. Pries, 24, Ankeny, was charged with domestic abuse assault with injury and non-violent child endangerment following an incident that occurred on Southeast Uehlamar Drive.
Casey L. Ruby Sr., 25, Ankeny, was charged with public intoxication following an incident in the 2000 block of Northeast Delaware Avenue.
Vernon J. Schuessler, 55, Elkhart Township, was charged with violating a no-contact order following an incident at 1555 S.E. Delaware Ave.
Jonathan C. Shupe, 38, Ankeny, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop near 703 S.W. 48th St.
Ervin Topcic, 20, Ankeny, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated following a traffic stop near the 300 block of West First Street.
Feb. 20
Kyle D. Adams, 43, Leighton, was charged with third-degree burglary of a building following an incident at 203 N.W. College Ave.
