1. Johnson moves around until settling in Atlantic (swiowanewssource.com) — A longtime early childhood educator, Heidi Johnson has put down roots in Atlantic and now leads the Ann Wickman Center, which is preparing for a major move into a new facility in about two years. She meets regularly with Vision Atlantic leaders and volunteers who are driving the project, underscoring how much local energy is going into expanding childcare options here. 
2. Cass County Engineer's report (kjan.com) — Cass County Engineer Trent Wolken briefed supervisors in Atlantic on road rock stabilization work, culvert and bridge projects, and a competitive bid for state bridge grant funding. With several local bridges in poor condition, the county hopes to secure money for up to two replacements, which would directly affect travel for residents across the area.
3. Supervisors approve part time Veterans Affairs director (swiowanewssource.com) — Cass County supervisors, meeting in Atlantic, have hired Audubon County’s William Bailey as the new part-time Veterans Affairs director, working 24 hours a week. Leaders weighed but rejected a 50/50 job share with Audubon, and will review whether Atlantic-area veterans’ needs are met within 90 days, after raising the hourly wage to $23 for the part-time role.
4. Ex-Atlantic teacher accused of sexual exploitation, grooming (who13.com) — Atlantic police have charged a former Atlantic Community School District employee with felony grooming and sexual exploitation following a months-long investigation into alleged misconduct involving a student. The former teacher was previously fired, surrendered his licenses, and now remains in Cass County Jail while also facing a separate exploitation charge tied to an earlier job in another Iowa district.
5. Atlantic man arrested on a Harassment (Sexting) charge (kjan.com) — An Atlantic man was arrested in Stuart on a first-degree harassment charge after investigators reviewed a sexually explicit video and related messages sent to a woman, according to Adair County authorities. He was booked into the Adair County Jail and later released on bond, and a separate assault arrest near Greenfield was also reported.
