• Story sheds light on Des Moines dark history (carrollspaper.com) — A new true-crime book about Des Moines’ rough early history has a strong Carroll connection through co-author David Donovan, a 1976 Kuemper Catholic graduate. His parents, longtime local chiropractor Dr. J.G. Donovan and wife Darlene, still live in the Carroll home where he grew up, giving this statewide story a distinctly local angle. 
• Dawn Allen case still unsolved in Iowa (kcci.com) — Fifteen years after Dawn Allen vanished in Carroll, her family and local police are still searching for answers and hoping new information will surface. Allen, a well-known Subway manager in town, disappeared in 2011, and Carroll officers continue checking unidentified remains and urging anyone with tips about her case to contact them.
