I Introduce Myself and Tell You to Buy a Pumpkin

Hi, I'm Mallory, introducing myself and previewing what's to come on my cooking-focused blog!

Hello! My name is Mallory, and if I am given any opportunity to rattle on about food, I'll do it, so here I am. In my house or anyone else's, I feel most at home in the kitchen, even if I'm not cooking. That's where I am now, writing this at the kitchen table. It's where I'll sit with friends to catch up - forget the couch. Need space for an art project? I'll clear off the kitchen table and work on it there. Many people seem to be the same way. Kitchens are warm, they're inviting and often they smell good. So even though I have many other passions that I could write about, I'm going to focus on the kitchen.

My favorite thing about cooking is experimenting. I have lots of cookbooks because I like to cook dishes I'm not familiar with, even ones I've never eaten before, from all over the world. I especially like to take on challenges, like cooking things from scratch that I usually buy premade: applesauce, mustard, sauerkraut, etc. In that spirit, I advise you to invest in a small pie pumpkin or two, because soon I'll have a tutorial on my favorite way to make your own pumpkin puree. If you haven't tried making pumpkin pie for Thansgiving from a whole pumpkin, maybe this is the year!
