Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Health and Wellness Blog
Did you know that you can improve the health of our planet - and the health of your wallet - when you reduce, reuse, and recycle?

In honor of Earth Day this month, I would like to shift our discussion from physical health to the health of our planet. How do you reduce, reuse, recycle?
To Reduce, I often buy local (less gas), purchase fluorescent bulbs (less energy), unplug appliances, turn off lights, turn off the water while brushing my teeth, wash laundry in cold water (no energy to heat water), and use Get Clean instead of ready-to-use products. The starter kit alone helps reduce over 100 pounds of packaging waste from landfills and eliminates hundreds of pounds of greenhouse gases. It’s the equivalent of planting almost 10 trees. Plus, it is less weight to ship, less product to use, and less packaging to throw away. You can even win one through Facebook – ends April 29!
To Reuse, I usually remember to grab my reusable shopping bags and water bottles, borrow instead of buy when possible, donate items I no longer use, and bring snacks/food in reusable containers. I also reuse with my Get Clean kit because so many of the products have multiple uses.

To Recycle, I like to remember that every ton of paper recycled saves more than 3.3 cubic yards of landfill space, according to Earth 911. In addition to the other traditional recyclables (i.e. cardboard, plastic, glass, etc.), I also recycle cell phones, VHS tapes, computer parts, vacuums, and anything else if I can find a good home. Plus the Get Clean Starter Kit replaces over 500 bottles or boxes of conventional ready-to-use cleaning products you use in your house, kitchen and laundry –over $3000 of equivalent cleaning power.
