Cedar Falls Mayor Announces City-Wide Clean-Up Week During April 19-24

"Cedar Falls Mayor Rob Green has announced a city-wide clean-up effort in observation of Earth Week from April 19-24. View his statement below including the details on how citizens can participate:

As we celebrate the 'Year of the Neighborhood' in Cedar Falls, I encourage all members of our community to take part in a city-wide clean-up effort in observation of Earth Week, from April 19-24. This neighbor-powered event is a great way to show our civic pride and community spirit, especially after the isolation of the coronavirus pandemic and an unusually harsh Iowa winter.

During this time, residents are invited to organize neighborhood clean-up activities or ‘adopt’ a popular Cedar Falls location including trails, sidewalks, and heavily-traveled business districts or storefronts. High-traffic, high-visibility areas include Brandilynn Blvd and Viking Road from HWY 58 to Menards, Greenhill Road from Hudson Road to HWY 58, HWY 58 to Cedar Heights Drive, S. Main Street from University Avenue to Greenhill Road, College Street (18th Street to 29th Street), Seerley Blvd from College Street to Main Street, and the Grand Blvd/Cedar Heights area from East Street to the City Limits.

Cedar Falls Public Works is providing blue 30-gallon collection bags at no charge; they can be picked up starting April 12th at the Public Works Building (2200 Technology Parkway) and the Transfer Station (1524 State Street) during normal business hours. Once filled, the blue bags can be deposited near the shelter areas at Overman Park, Holmes Park, Clay Street Park, Seerley Park, Neighbors Park, and Pfeiffer Park for pick-up; for other areas just contact Public Works at (319) 273-8629 to arrange a special pickup. Remember, all collected refuse must be bagged and secured before placing it for collection.

The goal of the 'Year of the Neighborhood' initiative is to encourage all residents to seek ways to actively practice neighborliness, engage with new and old friends, and collaborate on activities which improve the quality of life in Cedar Falls."
