• New York men plead guilty in cooking oil theft scheme tied to Iowa (amestrib.com) — Restaurants in Cedar Falls were among several Iowa locations hit by a multistate scheme in which two New York men admitted stealing used cooking oil and reselling it for profit. Federal prosecutors say the group siphoned oil from collection tanks across Iowa and other states, stored it in warehouses including one in Ankeny, and laundered the proceeds; more defendants still await trial.
