• Amid Rising Costs, Two Universities Make Athletics Events Free of Charge (athleticbusiness.com) — Cedar Falls residents connected to the military or first responder community can now attend select University of Northern Iowa games for free through a new partnership with Veteran Tickets Foundation. The initiative covers Panther football, volleyball, wrestling, and men's and women's basketball, aiming to thank service members while drawing more local fans into UNI Athletics. 
• Siouxland youth to be spotlighted at Iowa Rocks Talent Youth Competition (kcau9.com) — Young Iowa musicians competing in the Iowa Rocks Talent finals could soon be recording at Catamount Recording Studio in Cedar Falls if they win top honors. The statewide contest wraps up September 5 in Okoboji, with finalists vying for major category awards and special recognitions that include professional studio time donated by Cedar Falls and Milford partners.
