VCCV Weekly Volunteer Opportunities:

Connecting community, changing lives.

• Hike Guides are needed for Halloween Hikes October 7 - 9 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Hartman Reserve Nature Center. Additional volunteer positions include: face painters, kitchen help, gift shop and actors. Volunteers must be age 16 and over.

• The 5th Annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Spooks, Spokes & Sneakers run and trick-or-treat bike ride will take place on October 10 at Gateway Park at 10:00 a.m. Volunteers age 16 and over are needed to pass out water and candy to participants, provide route directions, and assist with set up and clean up.

• The Black Hawk Soil and Water Conservation District is partnering with IOWATER and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to hold a water quality “snapshot” to gather data from the four branches of Dry Run Creek on October 24. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.

• Waypoint Services is in need of volunteer Victim Advocates to assist with answering the 24/7 Resource & Support phone line, supporting victims in criminal and civil court proceedings, and providing emergency advocacy at area hospitals for victims of domestic violence. Training is provided to volunteers age 18 and over.
