VCCV Weekly Volunteer Opportunities

Connecting community, changing lives.

• Do pets enhance your life? The Cedar Bend Humane Society is now accepting applications for their Board. Applicants with financial and/or human resources experience and, of course, a love of animals are desired. The Board of Directors meets on the third Thursday monthly at 6:00 p.m.

• Do you enjoy science and technology? Volunteers age 13 and over are needed at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center to assist with the Family STEM Festival November 12. Two shifts of volunteers needed: 3:15 - 5:15 and 5:15-7:30 p.m. Opportunities include coat checkers, greeters, cleanup patrol, and traffic flow directors.

• The Northeast Iowa Food Bank is looking for volunteer drivers to pick up and distribute food donations weekdays from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Volunteer drivers must be willing to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License and become air brake certified. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome.

• Act as Quincy or Katie Koala or their friend from Cedar Valley Hospice to bring joy and support children who are chronically ill, or grieving the death of a loved one. Volunteer opportunities exist Monday through Friday with flexible times. Volunteers age 18 and over are welcome. Training provided.
