
• The Black Hawk Soil and Water Conservation District is partnering with IOWATER and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to hold a water quality “snapshot” to gather data from the four branches of Dry Run Creek on April 16 from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Volunteers will be trained and assigned locations along Dry Run Creek. The event will take place rain or shine.
• Orchard Hill Elementary is holding their fun fair on April 22 from 4:45 until 8:30 p.m. and are seeking volunteers to assist with set up, taking tickets and directing games, serving food items, distributing prizes, and tear down.
• The Job Foundation is recruiting volunteers on April 23 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. to assist with the spring shopping day for program youth age 6 - 15. The shopping coach will assist a child in building a spending plan, comparison shopping, and recording their expenses in their checkbook.

• Join the American Red Cross in reducing the number of home fire deaths on Saturday, April 23 by visiting pre-determined households to check existing smoke alarms, install new alarms, and practice fire drills with residents. Teams of three will meet at 8:00 a.m. and set out from the rally location in Cedar Falls or Waterloo after enjoying breakfast and a quick training session.
