VCCV Weekly Volunteer Opportunities

Connecting community, changing lives.

  • Visit a local K-12 classroom of your preference once a week for 5-6 weeks on the same day and at the same time for 30-45 minutes. Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa provides you with all of the material needed and training is provided.

  • Bingo is a game Mallard Point residents enjoy and a caller is needed to be loud and clear and to distribute prizes to winners. Bingo is held on Tuesdays from 1:30 pm to 2:30 p.m.

  • As a grief mentor a volunteer at Cedar Valley Hospice is matched with a grieving child to provide comfort, friendship and education. Mentors generally work with client for 6 weeks with sessions lasting from 35 - 60 minutes. Each session is goal oriented and the curriculum, activities and supplies are provided by the program coordinator. Training is required.

  • Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque volunteers work with former offenders to overcome the social and psychological challenges of either incarceration or positive reentry into family and community life. Volunteers must be 21 years old and attend a 2 hour training session.
