• Serious crash closes I-35/I-80 in Clive; drivers urged to avoid area (kcci.com) — A serious crash has closed westbound I-80 and southbound I-35 through Clive between Hickman Road and University Avenue, and the shutdown may last into Saturday morning. Clive police urge drivers to avoid the area and instead use Northwest 114th or 128th Streets, or I-235 through Des Moines, while investigators and emergency crews work at the scene. 
• Polk County lawyer sanctioned for practicing law with a suspended license • Iowa Capital Dispatch (iowacapitaldispatch.com) — A Polk County attorney has been further sanctioned after admitting he continued doing legal work while his license was suspended, including paralegal duties for Iowa Defenders in Clive. The Iowa Supreme Court ordered an additional 30-day suspension, concurrent with his earlier suspension, after disciplinary officials said he and his employer took remedial steps once concerns surfaced.
