City of Davenport launches community survey (ourquadcities.com) — Davenport is launching its 2026 community survey, inviting residents in all eight wards to share how they feel about city services, facilities, and life in Davenport. A random sample will first receive email and text invitations from research firm OnPointe Insights, followed by a public link, with results helping guide future budget and service priorities. 
2. Man arrested in fatal motorcycle crash arrested on Mexican island (kwqc.com) — Davenport authorities have located and arrested a man wanted in connection with a 2025 fatal motorcycle crash that killed 31-year-old Samantha Burke. U.S. Marshals tracked him to Isla Mujeres, Mexico, and he has now been deported, transferred to Chicago, and is awaiting extradition to Scott County to face charges.
3. Great Oaks High School and Career Center to Celebrate Davenport Opening with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony (rcreader.com) — A new tuition-free Great Oaks High School and Career Center campus is opening on North Brady Street in Davenport, with a public ribbon-cutting set for Wednesday, September 30 at 11 a.m. The charter school targets ages 16–20, offering flexible scheduling, credit recovery, and career-focused programs in fields like construction, manufacturing, and health care for Davenport-area students.
4. 'The Driftless' puts a horror spin on Iowa's scenic Driftless Area (wqad.com) — Davenport film fans can catch the award-winning Iowa-made horror anthology "The Driftless" at The Last Picture House on Tuesday, Sept. 1, highlighting the eerie side of the region's unique Driftless geology. Created by Dubuque filmmaker Tim Connery, the movie features Quad Cities-area actors and has already earned festival recognition across the U.S. and abroad.
5. Davenport Noon Optimists present Respect for Law Award to Aric Robinson (ourquadcities.com) — Davenport's Noon Optimist Club has honored Detective Aric Robinson with its 2026 Sergeant Kevin Marxen Respect for Law Award at the Davenport River Center. Local leaders praised the longtime Davenport Police investigator for handling hundreds of serious cases and going above and beyond for victims and their families.
