• Local officials hope impact from new Cedar Rapids casino minimal (biztimes.biz) — Dubuque’s casino leaders and Mayor Brad Cavanagh say a new $275 million Cedar Rapids casino will likely siphon some gambling revenue, but they’re banking on recent investments on Chaplain Schmitt Island and in the Port of Dubuque to keep visitors coming. With Q Casino reporting strong growth and new hotels and museum upgrades underway, officials believe Dubuque can remain a regional entertainment draw despite the added competition. 
• Dubuque Man Arrested on Theft and Impersonation Charges (dubuqueinpursuitnews.com) — A 30-year-old Dubuque man was arrested Thursday morning on felony theft-by-impersonation and misdemeanor impersonating-a-public-official charges after being taken into custody on McGregor Drive. Authorities say he remains in custody pending court proceedings, and emphasize that all charges are accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
