• Fairfield Native Daniel Kraus Wins 2026 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction (ottumwaradio.com) — Fairfield can now claim a Pulitzer Prize–winning novelist: Daniel Kraus, who grew up here before attending the University of Iowa, has earned the 2026 Pulitzer for Fiction for his experimental World War I novel Angel Down. He credits Fairfield’s quiet pre-internet days, limited entertainment options, and hours spent writing and renting horror movies with shaping his imagination and resilience.
