• Schools invited to apply for official designation supporting Iowa military-connected students (iowa.gov) — Forest City families with military ties may be interested that local schools were among the first districts recognized in Iowa’s new Purple Star program, which supports military-connected students. The state has now opened applications for the 2026–27 designation, encouraging all public and accredited nonpublic schools to apply by Dec. 31 to show they’re committed to specialized resources, liaisons, and programming for these students.
