Fireworks offer light, sound, danger (messengernews.net) — Fort Dodge officials are reminding residents that consumer fireworks are only legal in the city from July 1–4, with specific evening hours and a requirement to use them on private property. Fire Marshal Dennis Feldman urges caution and sobriety when lighting fireworks, while Fort Frenzy plans a July 3 celebration with live music and a fireworks show after dark.

Webster County and Fort Dodge move ahead with plans for law enforcement center (weareiowa.com) — Fort Dodge and Webster County leaders are formally moving ahead on creating a joint Public Safety Authority and building a new law enforcement center to replace the undersized, aging downtown jail. Officials say overcrowding, costly out-of-county housing, and serious maintenance issues make a modern facility urgent, and they’re proposing a dedicated tax-backed lease structure to fund construction and operations.

Dodgers' domination of Bobcats continues (messengernews.net) — Fort Dodge’s ninth-ranked Dodgers baseball team kept rolling Thursday, crushing Marshalltown in a conference doubleheader and extending a dominant run of 24 wins in 25 meetings. Big nights from pitchers and power hitters, including state home-run leader Tru McBride, set up another key league twinbill when Fort Dodge hosts Ames on Monday.

5. Wright County man sentenced to 15+ years in prison on federal meth dealing charges (superhits1027.com) — A man tied to both Eagle Grove and Fort Dodge has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison for distributing large amounts of meth in the Fort Dodge area between 2024 and 2025. Prosecutors say he and others moved over 2,500 grams of meth, including controlled buys with cooperating individuals, and he’ll also face a decade of supervised release after prison.
