Valedictorian and salutatorian honors were announced, along with 22 students earning GPAs above 4.0, while speakers encouraged seniors to pursue everyday greatness through dependability, kindness, and integrity. 
• Softball: Fort Madison doubles Keokuk with sweep (mississippivalleypublishing.com) — Fort Madison’s softball team snapped its early-season skid in a big way Monday, sweeping Keokuk on the road to improve to 2-4. Strong pitching from Lucia Darnell and Emma Snaadt, plus timely hitting by several Bloodhounds, powered the doubleheader wins and set up home and road games later this week.
• Incumbent Blaine Watkins and challenger Matt Mohrfeld look forward to November general election for Iowa's 100th House District (wgem.com) — Former Fort Madison mayor Matt Mohrfeld and incumbent Rep. Blaine Watkins both advanced unopposed to November’s Iowa House District 100 race, giving Fort Madison a direct stake in the contest. Watkins highlights affordability and property tax limits, while Mohrfeld emphasizes cancer prevention, education, and stronger Southeast Iowa representation, with both candidates calling for more housing options.
