• One injured, fire truck and pickup are totaled after weekend crash (myradioworks.net) — A weekend crash near Hartley left an 11-year-old girl injured and totaled both a Melvin fire truck and a pickup driven by a Hartley teen. Investigators say the teen pulled from a driveway into the path of the southbound fire truck on Vine Avenue, also damaging a third pickup that had stopped to yield.
   

• Revamped entrance greets visitors at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley (hartleysentinel.com) — Visitors to Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley will now see three new flagpoles with solar lighting at the west-side entrance, honoring the U.S., POWs, and Iowa. The chapel committee is also planning a building for a cemetery directory, continuing maintenance, and fundraising through year-round nut sales at Nelson Locker, with local contacts available for questions.
   

• 08/06/26: Crime, Courts, Accidents & Incidents (hartleysentinel.com) — Recent regional incident reports include a train hitting a grain trailer west of Hartley and a Hartley 19-year-old whose trailer rolled into a ditch on 340th Street, with no injuries reported. The roundup also covers drug and traffic cases, a Highway 60 crash, a motorcycle-deer collision, and a fatal boat accident on West Lake Okoboji.
