1. Check out live music and a new festival this weekend in Iowa City (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — Iowa City is lining up a full weekend of free or low-cost fun, from the inaugural Iowa City Wellness Festival downtown to live music in the Northside neighborhood. You can also catch an outdoor screening at FilmScene in the Park and a free showcase of locally focused short films, complete with filmmaker conversations and a lobby reception.
   

2. Iowa City weighs adding three officers for dedicated downtown police unit (cbs2iowa.com) — Iowa City leaders are debating whether to add three dedicated downtown police positions after a spring shooting at the Ped Mall and a series of late-night incidents. The police chief argues a nighttime unit could improve visibility and relationships, while some council members question long-term costs and whether more officers are the best tool for preventing violence. A final decision could come at a future council meeting.
   

3. Johnson Co. supervisor calls for time study on supervisor pay (kcrg.com) — Johnson County Supervisor Rod Sullivan, speaking from Iowa City, is urging a formal time study to determine how many hours supervisors actually work and whether their $102,000 salaries are justified. Fellow supervisor V Fixmer-Oraiz disputes Sullivan's estimate of a 20-hour workweek, saying the job regularly tops 40 hours and includes night and early-morning duties, and is open to a study.
   

4. Caitlin Clark Foundation installs book vending machine at Iowa children's hospital (vendingtimes.com) — Young patients at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City can now pick free books from a new vending machine donated by the Caitlin Clark Foundation. The machine is part of a program aimed at making hospital stays more comforting and engaging for kids, with tokens, welcome folders, and arts-and-crafts materials supporting families and staff.
   

5. Iowa City woman charged with OWI after crashing into pole (1630kcjj.com) — An Iowa City woman was arrested after police say she crashed into a pole near Bowery and Lucas streets and showed signs of significant alcohol impairment. Officers report she admitted drinking, blew more than twice the legal limit, and was allegedly carrying a fake ID, leading to first-offense OWI and fake ID charges that could bring up to two years in jail.
