Don’t Delay, Get Yard & Garden Waste to Curb
Fall is a favorite season among many Iowans. The hot, humid days behind us, tailgates ahead, and the leaves turning beautiful shades of autumn colors – then they drop. The fun is over, grab your rake and get to work. While you may not look forward to yard work, you won’t want to procrastinate too long. The Compost It! program ends the week of Nov. 26 on your garbage collection day. In addition to lawn waste, make sure your garden waste is also included - leaves, brush and decaying vegetables.
Compost It! offers two yard waste collection options:
Bag & Sticker Service
You can put yard and garden waste in a Compost It! bag (no sticker required), or a generic yard waste bag with a Compost It! sticker. Stickers can also be used on brush bundles. Both are sold at local hardware, grocery or home
improvement stores.
Cart Service
If your community offers Compost It! carts, you can enroll in an annual service, which allows you to conveniently wheel a 96-gallon container of yard and garden waste to the curb. Each season, participants must purchase a renewal sticker and
attach to the cart.
