• CenturyLink not ending landline service in Lee County — yet (mississippivalleypublishing.com) — CenturyLink is shutting off traditional landline phone service in Johnston and several other Iowa communities starting Oct. 18, pushing customers toward newer technologies. Company officials say very few Iowans rely solely on copper lines and promise replacement options like Connected Voice with Air-Line, along with alternatives from other providers, to keep residents connected during outages and emergencies.
